VII Ibero-American Seminar

The VII Ibero-American Seminar "Current relations between Bengali, Hindi and Spanish: a new impetus" was held on 24 and 25 February 2024, resuming academic activities interrupted by the pandemic.

The VII Ibero-American Seminar “Current relations between Bengali, Hindi and Spanish: a new impetus” has invited the most important scholars of Spanish and its literature who have worked on the relationship between Spanish, Bengali and Hindi through translations and various studies. This is the first time that such a meeting has been held in Bangladesh, now promoted by the Inditex Chair and the University of Dhaka.

For thirteen years, our main task in this country has been to promote the study of Spanish and Spanish-American culture. However, it is not possible to achieve this objective without knowledge of the cultural and linguistic context of the place where we develop this project. This is one of the reasons why activities of this kind are so frequent in our department.

The presence of professors, students and colleagues related to the Bengali and Hindi cultures supported the celebration of this seminar. The seminar was a success due to the lively debates promoted on many occasions by the students of the Chair, who amazed the guests with their mastery of the Spanish language.
