On 13 October 2025, to mark Spain’s National Day, the Inditex Chair organized a flamenco guitar concert featuring guitarist Mercedes Luján, trumpeter Jessy Estévez, and percussionist Naim Real. The event was a great success, both in terms of attendance and the strong interest it generated among Dhaka’s community. The venue, with a seating capacity of nearly 500, was filled to capacity.

The event took place on 13 October in Dhaka as part of a cultural evening organized by the Inditex Chair of Spanish Language and Literature in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Bangladesh. The flamenco performance by the Mercedes Luján Trio further reinforced the Chair’s focus on promoting Spanish culture during these celebrations.
The audience included members of the international community, representatives from the cultural sector, professionals from industry and cultural organizations, members of the Chair’s team, and a large number of our students in Bangladesh. The event attracted nearly 500 attendees, and the performance was warmly received by both the audience and the students in attendance, providing them with a valuable opportunity to experience Spanish culture firsthand.
The opening ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru. Also in attendance were the Director of the Inditex Chair, Professor Eduardo Barros Grela, together with members of the Chair’s team from both Spain and Bangladesh.

The programme featured selections from the Mercedes Luján Trio’s recently released album, Origen & Revolución (2025), including Soleá, Fandango, Taranto, Bulerías, Nana, Rumba, and Tangos.
