On 18 January 2026, Professor Darío Villanueva, a member of the Royal Spanish Academy, visited the Inditex Chair’s headquarters in Dhaka. Students had the privilege of attending his lecture, entitled “Spanish Around the World,” in which he provided an overview of the varieties of Spanish spoken across the Spanish-speaking world.

The lecture concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which students had the opportunity to ask Professor Villanueva about the topics covered in his presentation, as well as about the role of the Royal Spanish Academy in documenting linguistic variation and promoting a shared standard for the Spanish language.
