A tribute to Paco de Lucía

A recital of flamenco music given by Mariano Abello and Daniel "Melón" Jiménez in posthumous tribute to Paco de Lucía.

The memory of flamenco guitarist and composer Paco de Lucía (1947-2014) was celebrated in Dhaka by guest musicians Daniel "Melón" Jiménez and Mariano Abello, who gave a moving recital to close a week spent working and living with local musicians.

Daniel Jiménez, a guitarist trained in the classical flamenco tradition, was a member of the group of musicians from around the world who accompanied Anoushka Shankar on her 2010-2012 world tour, an experience that led him to explore the relation between flamenco and Indian classical music.

Mariano Abello, a jazz musician and teacher who has worked in many countries and cultures, is the founder and director of the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in Nepal, the first school dedicated exclusively to jazz in Southern Asia.
